Techmenity’s client, a music lover and avid vinyl collector, was moving into a newly built apartment building in New York City and wanted a high-end sound system for their new home office that could connect to their turntable and still have the capacity to reproduce concert-grade sound for streaming live concerts. Not only that, but their client also wanted the sound to be equally as impressive when watching movies at home, ultimately transforming their concert-sound-quality home office into a premium home theater experience too.
L-Acoustics Creations Fiji 5.1 was the right choice system because of its smaller footprint with concert-grade dynamics and performance. Fiji 5.1 consists of five ultra-compact X4i loudspeakers, one powerful and slim SB10i subwoofer, and two LA2Xi amplifiers, all delivering up to 117 dB of sound (for comparison’s sake, a running motorcycle is at about 95 dB). For smaller spaces – like this NYC apartment – Fiji packs a lot of power while delivering exceptional clarity. You can leave the movie subtitles off with this one.
“Given the limited space for speakers in the Italian wall unit, restrictive guidelines from the interior designer, and the small size of the room, we had a challenging puzzle to solve. To find just the right solution, we looked at a number of speaker systems before being introduced to Fiji. As soon as we were given a demo, we knew that this system would meet all of our client’s & the designer’s expectations,” Jamie Propp, the CEO of Techmenity, told us. “This gentleman has a collection of bespoke, high-end systems in each of his homes, and Fiji is now his favorite. It’s one of the only choices for tight rooms found in NYC apartments with the need for concert-quality multichannel surround. The subwoofer’s dimensions allow it to be placed discreetly.”
